Weight Loss

Overview

Miraculous peptides tirzepatide (GLP and GIP) and semaglutide (GLP) mimic natural hormones to regulate appetite, slow gastric emptying and improve insulin response. This keeps you feeling fuller longer and therefore eating less.  Stabilization of blood sugar creates numerous health benefits including weight loss.

Weight loss is within your control

GLP-1 doesn’t force weight loss—it supports your body’s natural regulation systems, making healthier eating patterns feel more manageable and sustainable.

Benefits

Support healthy, sustainable weight loss

Reduce appetite and cravings by increasing feelings of fullness.

Help regulate blood sugar levels

Improve insulin sensitivity

Slow gastric emptying, which helps control portion sizes

Support metabolic health

Reduce visceral (abdominal) fat

Improve energy levels as blood sugar stabilizes

Support long-term weight management when combined with lifestyle changes

May contribute to improved cardiovascular health markers

How it works

GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) works by mimicking a natural hormone your body already produces to regulate appetite and blood sugar. Here’s a simple, easy-to -understand breakdown

Signals fullness to the brain

Activates appetite-regulating centers in the brain, helping you feel satisfied sooner and longer.

Reduces hunger and cravings

Decreases hunger signals, especially those tied to overeating and emotional eating.

Slows digestion

Delays gastric emptying so food stays in the stomach longer, extending the feeling of fullness.

Regulates blood sugar

Helps the pancreas release insulin when blood sugar is high and reduces excess glucose release from the liver.

Improves insulin sensitivity

Helps the body use insulin more effectively, supporting metabolic balance.

Supports portion control naturally

People often find they eat less without feeling deprived.

FAQs

GLP-1 agonists (glucagon-like peptide-1 agonists) mimic natural hormones in your body, stabilizing blood sugar and telling your brain and gut you are full.  Tirzepatide and Semaglutide with a third option coming at the end of the year for weight loss activate brain receptors that control appetite, and you simple don’t care as much about food. Yes, this is a miracle; not only are people eating less on GLP-1’s, but they also have fewer cravings for alcohol and tobacco, and wait for it, anecdotally, people are shopping less.

GLP-1’s don’t burn fat directly but they make calorie control and consistency much easier. Use the GLP-1 as a tool, not the whole plan. Eat in a way that works with the medication. Increase protein as a non-negotiable (20-30g per meal). Keep portions small—but don’t skip meals. Avoid fatty foods, especially the day before your injection. Hydration is key (aim for 2-3 liters/day) and strength training is crucial. Add gentle, consistent movement such as walking 6-10k steps/day, light cycling, swimming or yoga. Be patient with the timeline and avoid common mistakes such as eating too little, skipping protein, no strength training, increasing dose too fast or treating it like a crash diet.

Short answer: no —weight-loss injections (like GLP-1 meds) are not only for people with diabetes or who are “very overweight,” but there are guidelines about who they’re appropriate for. People who are pre diabetic, have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, PCOS or sleep apnea may also benefit. Additionally inflammatory conditions and autoimmude diseases are improved such as lupus, MS, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, arthritis and many people find that musculoskeletal pain and inflammation significantly improve. People who struggle with appetite regulation, have insulin resistance, have tried lifestyle changes without lasting success and/or eating to prevent future metabolic disease may also be candidates. Bottom line is people who have excess weight affecting health, have metabolic or hormonal barriers to weight loss and people committed to using medications responsibly for lifestyle support may benefit from GLP-1’s.

Not always, although many people do choose to stay on it long-term and that is not failure. If your ideal plan is for the short term it is important to loose weight slowly and sustainably. Build solid habits with protein intake and strength training so as to maintain muscle mass and use a gradual dose taper, with provider support when ready.

Possible side effects, while on Tirzepatide and Semaglutide include gastrointestinal symptoms such as constipation, nausea, diarrhea, bloating in the first month, as well as fatigue. These side effects, although mild and often temporary, can occur when just starting out or increasing dosages. More serious but rare side effects may include pancreatitis, gallstones, thyroid tumors if in family history, and kidney issues if dehydrated. A thorough family history and questionnaire will be conducted prior to starting any GLP-1 treatment and if warranted labs may also be taken. It is also advised to speak with your doctor before taking any weight loss medication.

Like any injection, a mild and temporary pain at the injection site could be possible. Most of our patients report little to no discomfort. Weight loss injections are subcutaneous and go just beneath the skin, eliminating having to go deep into a vein or muscle like a vaccination. Our needles, similar or the same as insulin needles are small and very fine, usually 4-6mm long healing to alleviate any discomfort.
